A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and making racially-aggravated comments after a taxi driver was abused in Stroud.
The Asian victim was allegedly verbally abused by the man before he removed the taxi's ignition key and snapped it.
"There were passengers in the victim's car at the time and we are keen to hear from them," said a spokesman for Gloucestershire Police.
The man has been bailed to attend Stroud police station later this month.
