can only offer the following LONDON average speed over last 3,000 miles =14 mph .i run a diesel do not know of any petrol cars in the game.would advise get a diesel speak to the taxi centre as previously suggested,they could put a deal together which might suit.in my opinion petrol to be avoided on costs and maintenance issue

Spoke to Lawrence and got a quote for roughly £4500.

Deposit is a quite high at £900 with 9 payments at £460.

Taxi Centre couldn't give me a quote becuase of my age

Too be honest young man i wouldnt advise someone of your age too enter this industry, surely theres better opportunities what about the railways some good money available im told. One go for a UNIONISED job 50% less chance of getting injured, and of course protection!!!!!!!!

what about chauffeuring that may be a bit cheaper due to type of clients and more long runs than lots of little bits and pieces
and normally a better class of person........

I'm restricted to an automatic only licence, which is why my only option would be to put my own car on the road as no other taxis/private hire cars are automatics......

no other taxis/private hire cars are automatics......





you'll probably find in major city's where the driver is sat in constant stop start situations such as town centres then these will be predominantly automatics.

i believe Sams was roughly the same as yours. not cheap i no but its a sign of the times im afraid

Young man cabbing chauffeuring at your age, not a good idea, if necessary swat up courses Plumbing whatever. any mug can drive i know ive been there!

However if your determined get a diesel auto Skoda/ Octavia/Superb good motors.We estimate average cost to Driver per day of xs IE before you take a penny  to be 70-80£ per DAY with your insurance costs more like £150 add on to that a petrol auto you lose every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there,

I had the same problem as you (I am also 19) however found a way in the end. I spoke to Lawrence from the Insurance Factory in Birmingham.. Got a very reasonable quote. I pay £4400 per year full comprehensive, and they insured me on a 2.0 Petrol Peugeot 406 Automatic....

Very reasonable company, give them a try.

I just wanted to throw http://www.metcalfeins.co.uk/taxi.php into the ring. They do a lot of taxi insurance.

I was just curious about whether the age thing scuppered you or not.
