Lets be clear no-body can become a member of a union without filling out a form REQUESTING admission to membership.Members meetings never take place with proprietors present except by INVITATION of the membership, that has not happend in Brighton.Enforced closed shops are ILLEGAL the GMBPDBs operate legally.
The NTA has proprietors who rent hacks out, and then discourage those drivers being organised, Lets quote Trevor Jones ie MrT and ----" i wouldnt let my drivers join the GMB that would be INTRUSIVE to my business" to me on a phone call, there we have it a leading advocate of the NTA objecting to Union membership, he and the NTA are frightend of drivers being organised effectively, why because it would prevent their exploitative practices!
NTA THE FLEET OWNERS ASS
ORGANISE EDUCATE AGITATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you'll find that Mr T's drivers are members of the T&G. I am curious as to why you continuously lie about people

Mr Brighton breezy..... I knew exactly what I was doing when I posted that particular post, I had decided to let you experience a taste of what you dish out... I did not say it was a fact... and I gave you ample opportunitie to correct the statement.
The NTA is a national hackney Association. that does not mean that some of its members might not be private hire Licence holders, it certainly is not trying to delude people from both sides of the trade into believing that it can represent fairly two completely different points of view, it simply is not workable nor honest to try to for a have claim it can.

The meeting of minds.. is a different issue.. for a different time.... I am more interested in why you continuously try to insult the intelligence of both the Hackney and private hire trade.

Nick,

Totally disagree with you, I believe that the GMB PDB can represent both sides of the trade, it does so in Brighton and this is a restricted area, perhaps you would like to give me your reasons why it can not.

Nick,

You know thats not true, what I'm saying is ' the GMB PDB Brighton & Hove section has both H/C and P/H and Taxi Office Staff members.

I'm still interested in why you think that the GMB PDB can not represent both H/C & P/H.

Nick,

Are you going to amswer my question, Yes or No.

In answer to your questions, the majority of Hackneys do not belong to a trade union or association, Unite have about 50 members and the GMB have about 30 members and the BME have about 30 as well. They are individual Hackney proprietors who are members of the GMB.

What clash of intersts are you talking about?

I will give you one little instance out of many that I have seen, in this particular area there were two sections of the T&G... one was hackney and the order was private hire. the private hire section wanted the removal of numbers control regarding the licensing of Hackney's.... and obviously the Hackney's section wanted it to be kept caped.... how could the T&G support both arguments at council level at the same time..... answers on a postcard please.....

Nick,

Perhaps the T&G made an error in having two seperate sections, if they had had one, they would have been on one side or the other through the democratic process of voting.

Not so long ago there were talks of the GMB being assimilated into the T&G. are you saying that could not happen in the future...............

Dear Nick,

So what your saying is one, or the only reason,  H/C & P/H do not agree is the restriction of plates.

Total number of Authorities that do not restrict or have voted to remove restrictions at a future date, 245 or 71.5%.

Total number of licensing Authorities in England & Wales 343.

Regards

BB

No Mr bright and breezy I did not say that... you have... I merely gave you one small example... the rest you will learn as you go on...... but I would be grateful if you could stick to the truth......
Ha ha . I do Remember one extremely amusing occasion when the union representing the private hire demanded( fists banging on table) to be allowed by the council to be able to pick up off the road...... only To hear the counter argument by the hackney Rep from the same union explaining it was not a local council issue but national legislation....
