Yes I have informed my Credit Card Company/Salford Trading StandardsLincolnshire Trading Standards/BBC Watchdog, But I have not heard anything from Watchdog yet, I have tried ringing Betterfares on their landline and mobile phones but have got nowhere with it. The other numbers on their website are disconnected when you ring them, and their email address on their website does not work either, but when you do manage to speak to someone he tells you that its only a booking office.

I GOT MY MONEY BACK!!!!

I have just received my credit card statement and I have been credited £199.00. It took some work as their disputes department usually only looks at stuff up to three months after the origional transaction. I sent them copies of all my email correspondence with Betterfares,a covering letter and a copy of Betterfares terms clearly showing their money back guarantee. I urge all companies to do this and take the bastards for as much as you can. Hopefully sooner or later cybernet media will flag up as fraudulent to all credit card companies and they will be driven out of business.

just to let everyone know that there are a lot people who have been had by taxi quoter, better fares etc you know by now who they are:

unfortunately i am also in this boat, where i got scammed of not only £249+vat but a job to birmingham as well another 70 quid.

funny thing is that many people on here think this guy yasser is an asian that gives asians generally a bad name for asians, just to let every one know i'm also an asian who have been in both private hire and hackney trade for more than 20 years, and i can confidently say i have never ripped off anyone. i've always gone out of the way to help people..

getting back to better fares or shit fares, they are complete scammer..... and i would not trust them again. i'm in process to report the whole incident to ROUGE TRADERS AND WOULD EXPECT SOME SUPPORT TOWARDS IT AND LET THEM (YASSER) GET EXPOSED. I don t thing Yasser is Asian i think he is a kuwaiti as the job i took to birmingham was a kuwaiti and he seemed to know this Yasser well. shame i didnt know about this scam at the time otherwise i would have left him on the M42 and let him walk..

keep this thread going and let people know about these scams. i'm only following this up as there was an article in the route one magazine today about the similar incident, up until know i thought i was the only one who had been scammed,.

i certain hope something gets done about better fares and all the companies related. i intend to report this to BBC Rouge Traders and my locally CID, and put an end to Better fares Taxi quoter etc

When we took our ad out with Betterfares I seem to remember being told we would get some work via the website or get our money back, now some 12 months later we are still waiting for some work, so I think this would qualify us for our money back.I told them we were rural, and in a small village, i also told them we only covered quite a small area but they assured me that we would get work, in fact they guarenteed it OR your money back!!!
I have written and e mailed them 4 or 5 times over the last 2 months and no one gets back to me either.Does anyone know what I can do to to reclaim our money

I was contacted by Dave from National Minibus Hire.co.uk based in Manchester to offer me covering jobs for them in my area. This rang a bell. I did a little search.
The tel no that he called me from was listed earlier here in this thread as one of betterfares' contacts.
Upon confronting him with this finding he was persistant that he was also a victim of taxiquoter, that they abused his details on their website & that he had nothing to do with them.

Any one knows if it is a genuine seperate company or it is another evolution/metamorphosis of taxiquoter/betterfare?

Hi,i used to be hounded by Betterfares all the time.
I believe another alias of theirs is "CAB TRANSFERS",also from Manchester.
The scam that these people use is "guarantee" one firm in one area,and then move the goalposts after sign up.
In cities its "2 companies" in each city,which they conveniently dont mention this,before sign up.
They badmouth "CLICKACAB" in their sales pitch,saying they charge you this and that,which is totally untrue.
Clickacab wipe the floor with these clowns,and you pay what you are told you pay,end of!

THEY JUST GAVE THERE SELVES A NEW LEASE OF LIFE BY CHANGING THE NAME AND SEEN THIS THREAD HAS HAD AT LEAST 10,000 VIEWS BY CABBIES OR PEOPLE LINKED TO THE INDUSTRY, SO SEEN AN OPPERTUNITY TO SCAM A PERCENTAGE OF THOSE 10,000 WHO HAVE LOOKED OR GOT SOME SORT OF INTEREST OUT OF A FEW HUNDRED QUID ALL OVER AGAIN AND LINE THERE POCKET WITH MORE MONEY, FROM RIPPED OFF INNOCENT TAXI DRIVERS WHO WONT GET ANYTHING BACK.

MAYBE IT IS THE FELLA CALLED KONG CON OR IS HE STILL IN PRISON OR ITS SOME ONE WHO IS AFTER HIS TITLE.

not sure it's of use to anyone but I had a comment posted by Jim Fairfield from Salford taxi office on my taxi scam page.

He says all complaints should now go to your local trading standards office as they have now taken over the case and there has been a national alert issued over betterfares, taxiquoter etc. Your local trading standards should be aware of the situation.

Does any one know if Leadxtaxis.co.uk are part of the same scam, they do seem to have a similar address and the same mode of call calling and taking credit card payments for joining them of £199 + VAT
