I am about to start working part time as a taxi driver. I already have a full time job but need some extra cash!

My brother-in-law is a full time cabbie and says you can claim expenses such as clothing, mobile phone costs and even a laptop (if you are keeping your own accounts) from your tax bill. Is this true? Thank you
