A private hire taxi driver was assaulted and robbed in Wellingborough in the early hours.
The driver picked up two men at around 12.25am in Orient Way, and when he arrived in Shelley Road at around 12.30am, they refused to pay for the full cost of the journey.
When they left the vehicle the driver got out as well and asked them for the remainder of the cost of the fare.
They refused to hand the money over and assaulted the driver, causing minor cuts and bruises. They also stole a small amount of cash from the driver.
The first offender was white, about 5ft9" to 6ft tall, of slim build and in his 20s. He had short spikey hair, a moustauche and goatee beard. He wore a dark and light coloured tee shirt and spoke with a local accent.

The two offenders were seen approaching Orient Way from the Sheep Street/Silver Street area of Wellingborough prior to the incident and police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen them or who may recognise their descriptions.
