Admittedly I've only skim read the threads in here, but there seems to one theme - some tosser puportedly representing the GMB trying to wind everyone up and spread left wing bile.

Is this what this site is all about then?

Personally my politics are my own. General chat in here fine, but the constant sniping and barracking? I'm not going to waste my time here.

Am I alone?

Parkway,

When we created this site, we did so on the same basis as the rest of the sites we collaboratively manage. To allow people the liberty to express their views without restriction or political persuasion. Unfortunately, they do not always align with everyone else's and some even seemingly have the ability to deliberately agitate!!!

I would suggest you exercise that ability to “skim” past those posts that don’t agree with you…

I do

GMB, you are welcome to come and talk to my drivers if you wish. I'm in Devon.

We have an excellent working relationship with the local authority, my drivers all talk to me about their problems and suggestions on how to run the business better is welcomed - from them.

You clearly have a chip on your shoulder, whether you can offload a splinter or two onto my drivers is very much doubtful. You seem to want to stir up trouble and not a lot else. The GMB is not a particularly militant union in my dealings with them (and I've had more dealings in a past life with the GMB than any other) but you a clearly the rotten apple in the barrel.

Free speech is fair enough, using this forum as a soapbox for your anarchist trash is unacceptable.

IMHO, if one stands and shouts for too long, the original message tends to get ignored... It is not my place to tell someone how to spread their views... but from my experience there are good ways and bad ways!

But surely if this site is being used to propogate a particular view/promote a business (union) over another then you are in danger of falling foul of libel/slander laws if it goes too far?

GMB, are you promoting your views on here with the full backing and knowledge of the GMB regional officers/National Executive, or are they merely your own personal opinions? If they are your own, surely you should not be using the GMB as part of your login name?

I have never seen an open forum being taken to court over views expressed on it, I would suggest that would be supression of civil liberties... I could understand someone taking action against an individual if the views expressed were not clearly stated as such (personal opinion) and therefore were being passed off as fact or those of a specific organisation.

But more than that... There is nothing stopping any business/union getting involved, I'm sure they could all shed some light on various issues raised something which I can safely say "we" would welcome.

P.T., I have only just started posting on here, and already I am regretting it, I have been accused of being someone I am not.IMO this is irrational, it seems this site is really just a propaganda site for the GMB, or should I say Terry, it's a shame really, but then I suppose I always have the option of switching it off.

i think if you look through the posts you will also see it promotes the NTA. theres a few posts on here praising the NTA and how membership as worked for them. then theres a couple of posts asking if any associations have worked aswell as the unions. but i believe your point is that GMB Terry is the one who posts quite openly that he's GMB hence it appears that its a propaganda site.

personally i think this or any other forum should be a place to discuss problems within the trade and pick eachothers brains etc. it should also be a place for light hearted discussion amongst like minded people who all have one thing in comon which is working in the taxi industry / public transport.

as someone said earlier if you dont like a particular poster / user then just ignore them, if he  / they dont get replies and arent acknowledged then they will get bored and move onto somewhere else [i hope]

I have seen sites closed down for being the vehicle for slander/libel in the past. This site is publishing those views whether you agree or not with them. And no! I'm not promoting the banter, just covering my ar*e!!

Parkway,

OK, I don't want to get into arguing legal semantics with you.

Also, to clarify, I am not defending individuals methods, there are individuals whos methods of communication I do not agree with, but as was the point of my original post, I was merely making the point that this site is not a vehicle for my or our personal views or politics. We will be as liberal as possible in allowing everyone to express there personal viewpoints.

I sincerely hope that this does not dissuade you from using this forum as a platform to voice your opinions/use as a source of information.

Kind regards

Pete

Hey Pete, live and let live. I can read or ignore what I want to. I found it a little off putting joining this site to find one person openly promoting their union seemingly in contravention of your own terms of use.

If this is truly a new taxi forum for drivers/owners/whoever then a lot of people are going to be put off by a frothing rottweiler of a union rep on every thread.

Hey... you carry on .

If I were you I would add it to your footer, that way you have an in-link for every post you make! I would also promote your primary domain which seems to be "taxidevon.co.uk". That way you will see the benefit from the search engines. Or better still add keywords to your link e.g. Taxis in devon. The search engines like that!

Cheers

Pete

Parkway Devon eh lovely part of the world, would love to meet your drivers,WE believe we have much to offer  that is beneficial for ALL in this industry in London and Brighton we have Companies that have recognition agreements with us, the owners have recognised the benefits to THEM and their Drivers. We never seek confrontation unless absolutely ESSENTIAL for our members. In these days negotiation normally works we have never taken industrial action! What we have done is use ths legal system, against companies GUILTY of illegal activity, such as Wrongful Dismissal {office staff] illegal deductions from earnings, many victories on the self employed worker under the direction of the company syndrome, which secures holiday pay for drivers who thought they were self employed! Maybe some of your drivers are entitled to holiday pay? Its a changing world. We recently too k £31000 pounds off an employer for a member whod been badly treated!  If a company is operating legally they can only benefit  from working with us! However if a company operates illegally we are their worst dream come true and some! The GMB nationally are of course aware of my activities and appreciative! Many drivers are still able to work due to our activities, Con Zone Red Routes maybe Bus Lanes destructive? im on this site by invite!! i write for Taxi-Today at their invite.Left wing bile maybe from your point of view, from mine constructive policys common sense! Normally those that attack US have good reason they have much too lose!! Is that your problem??

OUR DAY WILL COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GMB, you carry on. Strangely YOU seem to HAVE A problem with capitals on your keyboard. Perhaps you should keep to SMALL letters only.

As you were me ol' COCK sparrow.

I have nothing to fear from the GMB. My drivers enjoy a great employment package that not even you could improve.

So i couldnt improve their package now theres a challenge, when shall i come down? Definitely save you loads on vehicles and insurance, maybe assist you in getting local authority contracts.

On something different seen your ref to AJP V8 never heard of it tell me more always interested in that sort of thing! Best engine ive come across recently VW V10 diesel in a Phaeton great lump massive torque 5 ltrs of grunt! Also read  about  a company in Norfolk building a 2 seat sports job with a 6.75ltr V8 diesel coupled with an 8 yes 8 speed gear box. they claim it can achieve 66mpg and is limited to 185 mph.A bit different to my old Vespa GS160!

run by god knows who...

...co-owned by Tony Mite, Editor of Taxi Today magazine and Peter Gibbs of TaxiNumber.com...

The clue should be in the names "Pete" & "Tony" with the big f... off "THM MODERATOR" Avatar underneath. It's not cryptic!

I guess they weren't dishing out O-Levels in 2 + 2 = 4 when you were at school
