Hi all,

Can anyone give me any information about School Taxi Contracts. I have just contated my county council about them and they are sending me info and an application form, however I don't know much about them at all. Can anyone give me an idea of the procedure etc. And an idea of how much i'd be earning etc from the contracts.

Any help/info and examples of how much you get for school contracts would be great.

Look forward to your replies.

Hi vmini,

Most of the work we do is school contract, once you get on the contractors list you just have to sit back and wait for them to contact you.

We usually get sent a tender pack during the summer holidays and you just go through it, see if there is anything suitable and put in a quote.

How much you quote depends on how much you want the job.

The run I am doing currently is £60 per day but some runs might only be £20 a day.

You will also have to get another CRB check for the county council drivers badge (our CC pays for it though)

Why don't you get a proper job???

hi hopper,

Thanks for the info. Out of interest, the job that pays £60 per day, how long does this job take you, is it morning and afternoon or what? I really have no idea about this type of work (as i'm sure you can tell!) Also, can you tender for more than one run incase you don't get one of them? ie put in for job A, B and C but if you get job A they don't consider you for the other two? If you know what i mean!

Cheers again

Job takes about 50 mins morning and about 1 hour in the afternoon. The reason for this is you should be in position at the school about 10 mins before they come out, and in any case parking can be a problem so it pays to get there early to get your spot!

Yes you can tender for more than one job but you should put in a covering letter saying that you can only accept one because if you win more than one and then say you cant do one they will take a dim view.

Bear in mind all the hollidays, there are only 190 school days in a year.

Oops, just need to correct the times I gave above as I had not taken into account the 10 mins it takes to get from my house to the pick-up and vice- versa.

Therefore 1 hour in the morning and 1hour 10 mins afternoon.
