Shell announced record profits last week while we are crucified at the pumps. Tony Woodley the General Secretary of the UNITE union called for a windfall tax. Not a bad position. Our lot are begining to graft at the argument for subsidised fuel linked to bio fuels to see if the duel perspective of cutting greenhouse gas emmissions and reducing the cost of public transport can be achieved.
Surely windfall taxes could subsidize projects of this nature if the government wanted to run them albeit in a pilot project in the first instance.
Still there is an alternative as independents one of us could go down the local garage and ask if they would sell it to Taxi and Private Hire Drivers cheaper? Send a petition to the Prime Minister?
I suppose you could get Northern Rock to finance it!
As an independent does being daft come naturally or do you have to practice

SLC you must now expect a barrage from the illeterate philistine, perhaps some of the windfall tax could be sent upto Tyne and Wear for literacy courses, and maybe recent social history courses for the MUG????????????????????

you know your going to get crap put back at you by these muppets, but that only shows
their lack of knowledge.
they have to have digs with personal insults because thats all they have left.
if they knew what they were on about they would retort with facts and
try and show that they know more than you.
but thats not going to happen so maybe its time to vote to have these muppets

Independent your analysis on the PH versus Hack scenario truly demonstrates your lack of experience, not all issues are black versus white, Unions represent. negotiation, demarcation, debate, agreement. Why would 2 groups of workers not be able to agree demarcation?

If the GMB put a course on for the sophisticats to help them understand that something hypothetical is the opposite of a given fact would that be a course for people who have English as a second or other language or straightforward basic skills training in literacy and numeracy. Sorry 49 and 51 is a hundred they don't need numeracy.
On a serious note in relation to the hypothetical poser surely the testing could reduce the numbers or is only one part of the industry or both parts going to have driving tests over and above, will it be the same level of testing etc.
They must have worked that all out because no-one would be daft enough to send a petition to the Prime Minister without having worked that out.
Anyway there were these two Geordies one who had a name that sounded like a pussy and the other one who talked like one ------like

quite honestly this debate has reached its conclusion, obviously Taxi and the GMB on here will never reach agreement on the time of day let along anything else!
