when the cars in for inspection im not allowed to be present is this something i can challenge...?
and does it happen elsewhere..?
it seems a really dodgy practice to me open to abuse

i can take family car for mot and go under the car at the garage and be in attendance while the mot is carried out. so whats the difference between the 2

No difference except one inspector follows the regs and one dosnt, if your were involved in an accident under the car, big trouble for garage, youd sue them or most would and bin loads of dosh. Garage would be fined, all sorts of agg.

why do local garages advertise the fact that you can watch your car being mot'd etc in the press and on signs outside their premises if its against health and safety. wouldnt the health and safety mob be all over them if thats the case gmb

I seem to remember that MOT garages have a designated area for people to wait sometimes it might be a room and sometimes just a couple chairs in a marked out space sometimes in the garage...

MOT testing stations are supposed to have viewing areas.....the viewing areas are not generally under lifts!

not being difficult etc, but wondered if this was covered in regulations [working] or legislation [directive]
as i've been looking it up for 2 nights now but cant find it.
